A HOME RUN FOR THE FUTURE
A Game-Changing Opportunity for the Clinton School District

For years, the dream of having district-owned baseball and softball facilitiesdonate here button seemed just that—a dream. Budget limitations made this vision seem unattainable. But today, thanks to the generous spirit of a Clinton alum, that dream is on the verge of becoming a reality.

A FIRST PITCH
In October 2024, the Education Foundation for Clinton Students, Inc. received a generous donation from the late George R. Lilleston, a 1958 Clinton High School graduate and longstanding Clinton attorney. This lead donation of $750,000, designated specifically for the construction of a softball and baseball field, covers nearly half of the field's estimated cost. This generous donation marked the first pitch of a capital campaign—a fundraising partnership between the Clinton School District and the Education Foundation for Clinton Students, Inc. (a 501 c3 organization). This significant contribution provided the District and Foundation with a strong starting point to move forward with a project that will benefit student-athletes and the entire community for years to come.

FIELDING A BRIGHTER FUTURE (for students AND the community)
CHS studentsThe new softball/baseball complex at Clinton High School will be a game changer for our students and our community.

For decades, the district’s baseball and softball teams have relied on the Wagoner and Sunrise Optimist Fields. While we are grateful for the city’s generosity in providing access to these facilities, the need for dedicated, school-owned fields has never been more urgent.

The new complex will feature synthetic turf, helping to keep games on schedule, rain or shine. During the 2024 season alone, at least four home varsity baseball games were cancelled due to poor field conditions. With turf, students will have more opportunities to play and less disruption from weather, while the district will see reduced maintenance.

For years, the district has been unable to host baseball and softball tournaments. This facility will change that, allowing Clinton to welcome teams from surrounding communities. Tournament visitors will dine in our restaurants, stay in our hotels, and shop in our stores, creating a positive ripple effect for our local economy.

The complex will also enhance student safety by eliminating the need for athletes to travel across town for practices and games. With softball and baseball now offered at Clinton Middle School, participation has doubled in recent years, making the need for on-site facilities even greater.

More than just fields, this complex will serve as a multi-purpose space for school events, physical education classes, and community activities. It will foster Cardinal pride, support student success on and off the field, and provide lasting benefits for the entire Clinton community.

A GRAND SLAM VISION
The proposed baseball and softball complex will be strategically located just east of Clinton High School on land already owned by the district. The Clinton School District and the Education Foundation are committed to raising the remaining funds for the baseball/softball field, with the field ready for the Spring 2026 baseball season. The estimated cost for the combination field is approximately $2 million.
