On October 8th, more than 400 Henry Elementary and Clinton Intermediate School students, staff, and volunteers joined together to celebrate Walk to School Day, a beloved Cardinal tradition that continues to bring the community together year after year.
This special event was started many years ago by Gina Johannsen, and even in retirement, she (along with her therapy dog, Perry) returned to cheer students on and walk alongside them. This year, the tradition was proudly carried on by Coach Mike Dye and Mrs. Melynne Jones, ensuring the spirit of this event lives on.
Students not only got in some early morning exercise, but also learned how to safely use crosswalks, sidewalks, and navigate traffic with the help of adults.
A huge thank you to CHS and CMS students, Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare, Hawthorn Bank, Pediatric Place, OakStar Bank, Clinton Police Department, Equity Bank, school staff, and parents for their support, and to our crossing guard who kept everyone safe along the way!
