The Clinton School District Board of Education met in regular session yesterday evening, Monday, July 27th.

One topic of discussion included returning to school safely this fall, and several decisions were made that the District would like to share with parents.

*The District calendar was amended. This first day of school will now be Monday, August 31st. Pushing the start date back a few days will allow school staff more time to prepare for the many changes they will be implementing this year. This calendar change will not impact the last day of school. An updated calendar can be found here.

*Face coverings will be required of all students in grades 3-12 while at school. All district staff will also be required to wear face coverings while in school. Students in grades PK-2 will only need to wear a face covering when social distancing is not possible (arrival/dismissal times, when in the hallway, etc.). We ask that parents provide clean and appropriate face coverings for their children daily, but if a parent is unable to do so, the district can provide a face covering. Mask breaks will be provided for students during the school day.

This decision was made based on guidance from local, state and federal health organizations and for the greater good of all students and staff as social distancing is impossible in many areas of the school. “We want to do everything we can to get our students back in school, and requiring masks is one way to give us the best chance at staying in school once we get here”, says Superintendent, Destry Brown.

*A full school re-entry plan will be shared next week.

*Please don’t forget that if your child will be participating in Virtual Learning this semester, the enrollment form must be completed by August 8th. More information and the enrollment form can be found here.

This school year will include many changes. But we believe that with your continued partnership, support, flexibility and patience, that we can make this year a great experience for all of our Cardinals.
