Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI)

AMI DISTANCE LEARNING DAY INFO

WHAT IS AN AMI DAY?
In the 2020-2021 school year, DESE (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education) began allowing school districts to implement Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) Plans on days that school is not able to be in session due to inclement weather. In the past, when the weather made it too dangerous for travel, the Clinton School District cancelled school, and added the day to the end of the school year. Now, when school districts implement their AMI Plan, distance learning occurs from home, and the school hours lost due to closure do not have to be made up.

HOW MANY AMI DISTANCE LEARNING DAYS CAN WE USE IN THE CLINTON SCHOOL DISTRICT?
The maximum number of AMI hours allowed by the state of Missouri is 36.

If we have to utilize all 36 allowable hours (and have already used any additional hours built into the calendar), we will go back to the previous system of calling a “snow day” and adding the day to the end of the school year.
